Murugan Temple of North America ("Murugan Temple," "we" or "us") provides a variety of online services and products to its users on the website currently located at www.murugantemple.com and www.murugantempleonline.org (the "Site"). Murugan Temple is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information, and providing a safe and secure environment for our users.
The purpose of this Murugan Temple privacy policy (the "Policy") is to help you understand what kinds of information we may gather about you when you visit the Site, how we may use that information, whether we will disclose it, and how you can correct the information. Please note that by using the Site, you signify your agreement with this Policy. If you do not agree to the terms of this Policy, please do not use the Site. Children's Information
The Site is not directed toward children under thirteen years of age. Parental guidance, discretion and advice is recommended for contents on the site that the parents feel are appropriate for children under 13 years of age. Murugan Temple does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under thirteen years of age. If you are under 13 years of age, you should not register to become a Subscriber or provide any personally identifiable information through the Site.
The Information We Gather
Murugan Temple collects information from you at several different points on the Site in the manner set forth below. Whenever we collect personal information, we will make an effort to include a link to the Policy on that page.
Tell-A-Friend
If you elect to use the "Tell-A-Friend" referral service on the optional survey for informing your friend(s) about the Site, we ask for your friend's name(s) and e-mail address(es). Murugan Temple will automatically send a one-time e-mail inviting your friend(s) to visit the Site. We will store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time e-mail.
Newsletter
You can download online versions of the newsletter without providing any personal information. But if you wish to subscribe for a copy that gets mailed to you, you will provide us with personal information such as name, address, phone number and email address which will be solely used for mailing the newsletter and material that gets regularly sent to our subscribers.
Cookies
In our effort to provide you with services customized to your interests, we use "cookies" to assist in the collection of information. A cookie is a small data file containing information such as a user's login name that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. We use cookies to: access your account information (stored on our computers) in order to deliver better and more personalized services; estimate our audience size for our advertisers; identify which areas of the Site you have visited; and prevent users from voting in polls more than once, all as part of Murugan Temple's efforts to streamline your experience on the Site. Tracking information such as cookies is also used to create aggregate reports on user demographics and Site traffic patterns, and then is provided to our advertisers and partners enabling them to better target their advertisements to our Subscribers and other users. How We Use The Information That We Gather
Murugan Temple uses information obtained from its Subscribers and other users as stated in this Policy and to enhance Subscribers' and other users' experiences on the Site. For example, we may provide information about additional products and services that may be of interest to you based upon information supplied by Subscribers and other users. Other than as set forth in this Policy, we do not rent or sell any personal information about our Subscribers and other users. As a general rule, we will not disclose any personal information to any third parties, except when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or that it is appropriate to protect other users of the Site, or to operate the Site properly, or to respond to an emergency. Information is also disclosed if the Subscriber or other user has given permission, for example by voluntarily entering a contest or making a purchase on the Site, where the information required to register for the contest or to ship your purchases is provided to the third party of that service. We also reserve the right to report any suspected illegal activity to law enforcement for investigation or prosecution, or to suspend or terminate your subscribership in connection with any suspected illegal or infringing activity.
Cobranded and Other Affiliated Sites
Certain information or services offered or provided on or through the Site from time to time may be provided on or through other sites operated by or in conjunction with third party providers (“Partners”). These sites may have the same “look and feel” of the Site, and are often cobranded, such that a Partner’s logo or name may appear on the site, or the Partner’s name may appear in the URL. Aggregate or personally identifiable information collected about you on these sites may be shared by Murugan Temple with that Partner. A Partner will not rent, sell, or disclose any of your personally identifiable information to third parties unless you consent to its doing so, for example, by opting-in while on a particular site to receive information or offers from a Partner’s affiliates, partners, or other third parties.
Third Party Links and Subscriber Websites
You acknowledge that we do not monitor, control or endorse the information collection or privacy practices of any third parties, including but not limited to Subscriber Websites, any co-branded or other affiliated sites which may or may not be owned or operated by or in conjunction with Murugan Temple, or any credit card order processors, product shippers or other third parties who provide services throughout the Site. While we may set guidelines for information collection and privacy practices of each Subscriber Website and may even engage in a certain degree of content screening, we exercise no control over and are unable to police the information collection and privacy practices of Subscriber Websites. Accordingly, Murugan Temple assumes no liability or responsibility for the information collection and privacy practices of any Subscriber Website or any third party. In addition, Murugan Temple is not responsible for the content of any Subscriber Website or third party websites, including a third party's use of any cookies or any other information (such as IP address, browser type or operating system) collected when you "click-through" links to their sites or view advertisements served by them. Even though certain information collected by such third parties might not identify you personally, we strongly encourage you to become familiar with their privacy practices, and to contact such third parties if you have any questions about their respective privacy policies.
In addition, the Site and Subscriber Websites may provide links to other Internet websites or resources ("Linked Sites"). Murugan Temple neither controls nor endorses such Linked Sites nor have we reviewed or approved any content that appears on such Linked Sites. You acknowledge and agree that Murugan Temple is not responsible for the legality, accuracy or inappropriate nature of any content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such Linked Sites. You further acknowledge and agree that Murugan Temple shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods, and services available on or through any such Linked Site.
Please keep in mind that whenever you participate in an online message board, chat room or other forum or public area on the Site you provide information that can be collected and used by others that you do not know for the purpose of distributing unsolicited communications. Murugan Temple cannot guarantee the security of such information that you disclose online in public areas on the Site and Subscribers and other users do so at their own risk.
Security
The Site uses reasonable security methods to protect the data that resides on our servers. However, no security system is impenetrable. Murugan Temple cannot warrant or guarantee the security of its servers, nor can it guarantee that information that Subscribers supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to Murugan Temple over the Internet. When our registration/order form asks users to enter credit card numbers, that information is encrypted.
Correction/Updating Personal Information
If your personally identifiable information changes (such as your zip code), or if you no longer desire our service, we allow you to correct, update or remove the personal data that you provided. This can be done by contacting us by email at info@murugantemple.org. Keep in mind, however, that there will be residual information that will remain within Murugan Temple's databases, access logs, and other records, which may or may not contain such personally identifiable information.
Choice/Opt in or Opt out
You are given the opportunity to opt in or opt out of having your information used for purposes not directly related to the Site at the point where we ask for the information.
You may also opt out of receiving promotional information from Murugan Temple and/or from third parties affiliated with Murugan Temple at any time by contacting us at
