About Murugan Temple of North America

The Murugan Temple of North America (MTNA) is the first temple dedicated to Lord Murugan in the United States. Conceived in the 1980's and opened in 1999, MTNA celebrates all Hindu and Tamil festivals, holidays, and special occasions. In addition the temple provides bhajans, Tamil, and religious classes. Devotees from all over the Maryland, Washington, DC region, Virginia and the country visit this traditional Saivite Hindu Temple located in Lanham, MD. The main Sannidhi at MTNA is for Lord Murugan (Karttikeya). There are four smaller Sannidhis for Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha), Lord Siva, Goddess Meenakshi and Palani Aandavar. We also have a community center and auditorium that is available for the use by the community. • From I-95 (also 495, Capital Beltway), take exit 20-A, Lahnam (Rte 450 East). Then follow the signs to Princess Garden Parkway. Turn right on Princess Garden Parkway. “Murugan Temple” is on your left within half a mile (6300 Princess Garden Parkway)
• From Baltimore-Washington Parkway take Exit to Rt. 193 East Greenbelt Road. Make left on Greenbelt Road. Turn right on Hanover Parkway, which becomes Princess Garden Parkway. Drive about 2.5 miles. The temple is on the right side.
• Metro (Bus/Rail) Option Take Metro-Orange line towards "New Carrolton".
  - Last stop is "New Carrolton", get off and take MTA Bus - R12 towards "Greenbelt".
  - R12 travels via "Princess Garden Parkway". Get off at or around "6300 Princess Garden Parkway" and you're right in the front of the temple.

• Travelling Via Train From Out-Of-State Take Amtrak from where you are to Washington-DC/Union Station. Get off at the Union Station stop and walk across to the local Metro line. Then take Metro-Orange line towards "New Carrolton".
  - Last stop is "New Carrolton", get off and take MTA Bus - R12 towards "Greenbelt".
  - R12 travels via "Princess Garden Parkway". Get off at or around "6300 Princess Garden Parkway" and you're right in the front of the temple.

• Travelling Via Greyhound Bus From Out-Of-State Take Greyhound from where you are to "New Carrollton, Maryland" stop. Get off at the New Carrollton stop and walk outside to the local MTA Bus Stop.
  - Take MTA Bus - R12 towards "Greenbelt".
  - R12 travels via "Princess Garden Parkway". Get off at or around "6300 Princess Garden Parkway" and you're right in the front of the temple.
